London office, permanent

What does the role involve?

We are looking for a family associate to join our London offices to undertake private family and children law work serving an exclusively privately paying client base with an emphasis on complex financial and children cases for high net worth individuals.

Why should I apply?

The work is varied and interesting, and this is an ideal opportunity to develop your career with a highly ranked national law firm working within an effective team structure. We have an outstanding national training programme within the family NSL, and we ensure that all of our team develop and grow within their roles.

We are ranked in both Legal 500 and Chambers High Net Worth in London as well as in all of our offices outside the capital.  We have a growing and exciting profile in London, which we are focused on developing.  This role would be heavily involved in this aspect.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your experience with a firm listed in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For, for the last 19 years.

What experience is required?

2+ years PQE with training and experience in family law gained within an excellent family law team.

What skills and attributes would I need?

  • Good academics 2.1 degree or equivalent and A levels (A,A,C) or equivalent
  • Numeracy
  • Excellent communication skills including written English for drafting purposes
  • Ability to build relationships with clients and potential clients
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills
  • Good time management skills, able to prioritise work load and meet time lines

Who would I be working with?

Based in London, you will work with partner Joanna Grandfield and other members of the Family team in that office and also as part of the wider cross office Family & Children National Service Line (“NSL”) headed up by Nick Stone. The Family NSL is supported by a professional support lawyer.

Pre-employment screening

Please note that, in the event that we make an offer of employment, we will conduct pre-employment screening that includes checks relating to your professional and academic qualifications, references from previous employers, your eligibility to work in the UK and any disciplinary history recorded with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). You will also be required to complete a self-declaration to assess your character and suitability.

Disclosure and barring service check and security clearance

This post is also subject to a satisfactory response from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) (to check for any previous criminal convictions and cautions) and, given the nature of the work-type, you may also be required to undergo national security vetting to SC level – the latter can be undertaken following commencement of employment.
