What does the role involve?
We are looking for technology lawyers or commercial lawyers, with a strong interest in technology law work (IT and Data Protection), to work in our National IT and Data Protection Team – we are flexible on location. You will undertake a wide range of technology law work across a range of different industry sectors. Work will include advising a range of clients from innovative start-ups to global corporates, on IT, E-commerce, Data Protection and Commercial arrangements.

Who will I be working with?
Our National IT and Data Protection Team is headed by Jagvinder Singh Kang, who has been inducted into Legal 500’s official 'Hall of Fame'. Chambers and Partners notes: Jagvinder Singh Kang is one of the most respected technology lawyers in the market. He advises large corporate customers and vendors on the implementation of sophisticated technology projects. If you want a lawyer who can nail every point, he is your man. Our firm’s Technology Sector is headed by Kevin Calder, who is also recognised as a leading individual by Legal 500 as well as Chambers and Partners. You will work alongside Jagvinder and Kevin, as well as our other fantastic technology law partners and our national team.
What experience is required?
We have a number of roles, ranging from junior to more senior technology lawyer roles. You should have:
- at least 2+ years' post qualification experience
- good technical skills in commercial and technology law
- be enthusiastic and pragmatic in your approach to delivering legal advice to clients

What skills and attributes would I need?
- be able to demonstrate your interest in technology law
- possess good academics
- have excellent attention to detail, drafting skills, and negotiating skills
You will also have good organisational skills to manage clients’ needs and timelines, with a pro-active approach to work. You should be willing to learn and develop, demonstrate enthusiasm for becoming involved in business development initiatives, and show a good team-working approach whilst possessing a keen sense of humour.
Please note that, in the event that we make an offer of employment, we will conduct pre-employment screening that includes checks relating to your professional and academic qualifications, references from previous employers, your eligibility to work in the UK and any disciplinary history recorded with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). You will also be required to complete a self-declaration to assess your character and suitability.
Disclosure and barring service check and security clearance
This post is also subject to a satisfactory response from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) (to check for any previous criminal convictions) and, given the nature of the work-type, you may also be required to undergo national security vetting to SC level – the latter can be undertaken following commencement of employment.
