Paralegal (Real Estate Disputes) and Client Manager

The role

 We are seeking a full-time paralegal/client manager to assist the real estate disputes team, working for commercial clients with large rental property portfolios.  The paralegal will assist the RED team with fixed fee work, particularly the service and receipt of contractual and statutory notices; manage the key dates diaries, taking appropriate action when deadlines are approaching; draft legal documents e.g. standard debt claims and applications to court for new tenancies; and maintain good client relationships with repeat work clients.

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone with an interest in litigation and/or property work, seeking to gain experience in a prestigious national law firm, working in a busy and demanding environment.

The activities

The successful candidate will:

  • Prepare and draft legal notices accurately with excellent attention to detail
  • Be responsible for managing and updating the key dates diaries and taking the appropriate action as deadlines approach
  • Manage billing and monthly updates for multiple repeat work clients
  • Organise documents and information methodically and diligently
  • Actively seek out opportunities, and implement strategies, to streamline working processes in order to maximise profitability on fixed fee matters
  • Assist with due diligence
  • Draft letters, memos and attendance notes on instruction of principal
  • Project manage the fixed fee portfolio of work for the RED team and its clients
  •  Undertake research (legal and general, including client-driven research for RED generally)
  • Prepare paperwork for court cases complying with all court-related requirements and rules
  •  Be prepared to work across the RE NSL and cross-office
  • Comply with all work procedures, utilise the available IT and other software for best results and comply with the firm’s time recording policy
  • Provide quality client care by:
  • Observing the firm’s systems, procedures and professional standards
  • Ensuring all of their work is checked
  • Using formation and client service systems effectively
  • Maintaining the good reputation of the firm by meeting clients’ expectations
  • Work with others to contribute to a harmonious office environment by supporting the RED team
  • Manage and organise work and achieve maximum productivity by planning and organising work and adhering to the firm’s time recording policy and systems
  • Take responsibility and ownership of existing workloads and new initiatives
  • Attend training sessions as required

The person

Essential skills and experience:

  • Proactive and prepared to take ownership of their own matters
  •  ‘A’ levels or equivalent
  • Excellent IT literacy, including familiarity with MS Office
  • Excellent written English
  • Methodical approach to work, well organised, neat and an efficient worker
  • Enthusiastic and proactive attitude to work
  • Flexible in approach
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • A confident personality and good sense of humour
  • Friendly with good communication skills
  • Willingness to work in a dedicated team
  • Positive team player willing to tackle any task
  • Willingness to travel to different offices depending upon the RED team and wider RE NSL and client needs

Desirable

  • Recent paralegal or equivalent experience.
  • LPC or some legal qualification
