The role

This is a national role with responsibility for supporting the learning and development of over 1200 employees across the firm’s seven locations. The scope of the role encompasses the non-legal learning and development needs of lawyers, non-solicitor fee earners and business services.

You will work collaboratively with the senior L&D team to learn new skills on existing programmes, while also having autonomy to design and run your own training programmes. You will get involved in firm strategic projects focused on making Mills & Reeve a consistently great place to work for all, developing project management, facilitation and influencing skills.

The role requires close liaison with many people, in particular professional support lawyers (PSLs), IT trainers, National Service Line (NSL) leaders, talent partners, HR, marketing, support service heads (e.g. executive service managers), regulatory bodies and external providers.

Administrative support is provided by the learning and development administration team.

 

Main duties and responsibilities

  • To identify learning and development needs using analysis of data gathered from discussions, surveys, and the performance review system.
  • To support the development of the firm’s annual learning and development plans, and continually enhance programmes to meet evolving needs. In particular: the 0-3 PQE structured training programme and managing the delivery of dedicated training for executive support services and business services.
  • To deliver training personally, or source and manage external providers where more appropriate.
  • To develop or procure best practice resources, e-learning and apps to complement traditional classroom learning, which support the curation of the Learning Management System (LMS), to provide internal clientele with a depth and breadth of relevant learning, resources and development.
  • To support the project management and successful delivery of firm events and awaydays.
  • To facilitate meetings to a high standard.
  • To take on strategic projects that support business improvement initiatives.
  • To support the L&D team with budget management.

Measures of success

  • Designing and developing inclusive learning and development interventions to a diverse range of internal clients that are effective in meeting the needs identified.
  • Efficiently and effectively scheduling and delivering learning & development programmes and receiving positive feedback on them from participants and line managers.
  • Personally delivering training and assisting individuals with their personal development and gaining high levels of positive feedback.
  • Building credibility and a strong internal profile with a wide range of senior stakeholders.

You are expected to demonstrate:
