A full time permanent role based in any of our Cambridge, Norwich, Birmingham, Manchester, Oxford or Leeds offices with occasional travel to other offices and flexibility to work from home for up to 50% of time

The role

Reporting to the firm’s Finance Systems Manager, this is a key role supporting the business in achieving the firm’s 2025 strategy to be a leader in client experience and drive profitable growth.

This role is to support the finance team and other business support areas. The key activities will include supporting the Finance Systems Manager in testing system upgrades and enhancements, developing test scripts and supporting the project management/communications for these projects. You will also be encouraged to identify areas of process improvements (to systems and testing protocols)

The activities

The Firm has well-established and experienced finance and IT teams. The Finance Systems Assistant will be part of the finance team and partner with the IT teams and other key stakeholders to support the following.

Subject matter expert

Develop a detailed knowledge of all finance systems, including:

  • Elite 3E Practice Management System

  • Intapp Time recording

  • Intapp BillStream – Billing system

  • i4G credit control system

  • Dashboards – finance reporting system

  • eBilling Hub

  • Cosine matter planning

Finance system upgrades

Assist in the planning and successful upgrade of finance systems, to include:

  • Finance project managing

  • Extensive process testing

  • Produce process and user documentation

  • Assist with user and finance training

  • Understand product enhancements, and support teams in maximising these

Training and support

  • Help maintain training documentation and provide training across all areas owned by the Finance Systems Team

  • Supporting the training and coaching of the Finance team in best practice and consistent use of our systems on an ongoing basis and assist in the development of an ongoing training programme for new starters in the team for systems relevant to their role

Other responsibilities

  • Build a network within M&R to support your role and develop your work area

  • Become a point of contact for the Finance team when there are systems issues, investigate and report these as per the agreed protocols

  • Perform other work as necessary to assist in meeting firm objectives as delegated by the Financial Systems Manager

The person

The Finance Systems Assistant will be key to facilitating and developing the use of finance systems and technology across the firm, promoting best practice, and supporting training across teams.

With support from the Finance Systems Manager, you will assist in providing a bridge between finance, project management and IT teams to ensure successful testing and rollout of system upgrades and enhancements.

This is a busy and challenging role and to be successful it is likely that your background and experience will include the following areas of expertise:

  • an understanding of finance systems and information

  • experience in developing testing scripts and knowledge in implementing successful projects

  • ability to analyse and map processes

  • knowledge of Elite 3E application or similar practice management system

The role additionally requires someone who:

  • is proactive, adaptable and has a ‘can-do’ attitude; a willingness to roll up their sleeves and undertake a range of activities at critical times of the month/year

  • has a strong desire to learn and has a laser focus on accuracy of output
