What does the role involve?
We need a Corporate Solicitor to join our growing Corporate Team, based in our Birmingham office. You will undertake a broad mix of corporate work which could include M&A, corporate finance, equity capital markets, private equity, joint ventures and general corporate advisory work. You will advise clients ranging from start-ups through to substantial private companies and PLCs on a broad range of corporate issues and transactions and much of your work will have an international aspect. Depending on experience, you will either support partners and other members of the team, or you will work on your own matters largely unsupervised.
What experience is required?
You will be a newly qualified solicitor who has done at least one seat in corporate or an associate of 0-18 months of corporate experience. You will have a good background in transactional work. You will also be able to demonstrate an understanding of, and an interest in business development.
What skills and attributes would I need?
- Good academics
- Experience of running transactional work as the day-to-day fee earner on the deal
- Evidence of understanding what is needed to help grow and develop a corporate practice
- Willingness to initiate and participate in marketing and business development activities
- Technically strong
- Excellent drafting and verbal/written communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Good time and paper management skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and team skills
- Experience of equity capital markets and mergers & acquisitions
Who will I be working with?
You will be working with Partners Ryan Hawley and Junaid Haroon. The corporate teams are part of the cross office Corporate and Commercial National Service Line headed up by partner, Kevin Lowe. The NSL is supported by professional support lawyers.

This post is also subject to a satisfactory response from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) (to check for any previous criminal convictions and cautions) and, given the nature of the work-type, you may also be required to undergo national security vetting to SC level – the latter can be undertaken following commencement of employment.
