A 12-month internship, offered on a full time basis, based in Birmingham, Cambridge, Manchester or Norwich.

The role

Our award-winning marketing team is looking for a digital communications intern to join them on a 12-month contract, beginning in September 2024. This is the fourth year of our highly successful intern programme.

You’ll be working on website content updates and optimisation plus the firm’s social media channels and wider design and editing tasks. This is a great opportunity to work alongside experienced marketing professionals to help you develop your skills and get hands-on experience of a wide variety of digital marketing work.

The role will involve carrying out technical and administrative tasks using the Mills & Reeve website content management system and corporate social media accounts – as well as getting involved in a range of other marketing projects. The role would be based in our Birmingham, Cambridge, Manchester or Norwich office and you’d be expected to work in the office 50% of the time as per our hybrid working arrangements. While this role predominantly sits within the comms team, there’ll be an element of supporting the digital team especially around SEO.

The activities

On-the-job training and supervision will be provided to enable the successful candidate to carry out the following tasks:

  • Providing administrative, technical and project support for the firm’s digital marketing activities – such as keeping our busy websites up-to-date, and optimised for search engines including updating of page titles, descriptions and alt tags. The roles will also involve generating and upload of content, daily posting on social media and helping to carry out social media campaigns.
  • Helping to monitor and report on our online activity, eg, producing monthly social media analytics reports, and reporting on social media trends
  • Updating the firm’s online content, particularly on the main corporate website
  • Helping to update and create best practice guidelines for our content management system and social media platforms

The person

Given the requirements of this role, it’s likely that your background and experience will be:

  • Studying for a university degree, or equivalent qualification in digital marketing or similar (or alternatively already holding such a qualification)
  • Excellent computer and digital literacy
  • The ability to understand processes quickly and easily
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent grasp of the English language, grammar and spelling

The role additionally requires someone who has:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of social media tools and understanding of effective social media strategies
