A full time, permanent role based in any of the firms regional offices.
Mills & Reeve have an opportunity for an Associate/Senior Associate to join any of the firms regional offices, focusing on Probate work. If you are the kind of individual who wishes to assist families at a sensitive time and help them to make what can be a daunting process as painless and smooth as possible, together with developing relationships with clients, not only assisting them with the legal aspects of a loved one’s estate, but also negotiating family responsibilities and offering support when you can, then this is a fantastic opportunity for you to join a firm at the prime end of the market.
What does the role involve?
You will advise a range of clients specialising in probate work and estate administration on a wide variety of matters including, all aspects of finalising a person’s state, including;
Applications for grants of representation
Inheritance tax calculations
Advice regarding post death variations
The distribution of assets and establishing or re-structuring trusts under a will
There would also be an opportunity to work with more senior members of the team advising on a broader range of issues including:
estate and succession planning
inheritance tax and capital gains tax
complex Will drafting
establishment of trusts
trustee powers and duties.
What skills and attributes would I need?
Essential
Previous experience in a comparable role
Minimum 2 years PQE+ with experience gained at a large regional or City firm advising high net worth individuals.
Experience of running your own files, including financial management. Ideally, you will have completed/be working towards completion of the STEP Diploma.
Ability to build strong relationship with clients, potential clients and multipliers
Solid previous experience of preparing sets of accounts for probates and trusts
