What does the role involve?

We are looking for a Principal Associate or Senior Associate to join the Insurance Disputes team based in our Norwich office. You will provide a range of insurance and financial claims advice, insurance coverage advice, and potentially broader commercial disputes advice.  This will require excellent knowledge of the London insurance market, Lloyds regulatory issues, coverage and policy interpretation as well as up to date knowledge of court and dispute resolution process and strategy. You will have excellent team working and leadership skills, and ideally will have managed a team and be familiar with a variety of leadership tools and strategies.

Areas of work include, professional indemnity, financial disputes, casualty and coverage on primary and excess layers. Our client base includes, indemnity insurers, insureds and financial service providers.

What experience is required?

You will be 5+ years PQE with insurance experience gained in private practice at a large regional or City law firm or in-house for a global insurer or MGA.

  • Excellent written English and ability to produce clear, logical drafting.
  • Negotiating, lateral thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,  with evidence of leadership experience.
  • Evidence of working in private practice or in-house in a team managing claims and coverage disputes.
  • Flexibility to work with and supervise team members.
  • Effective time and matter management and a systematic approach to work.
  • Proactive team player.
  • Excellent IT literacy and research skills.
  • Enthusiasm for marketing with clients and multipliers.

Who would I be working with?

You will work with Partner Neil Davies and the wider Insurance Disputes Partner group. The team is part of the firm-wide Insurance Disputes NSL, which is headed up by Niall Innes, and supported by a professional support lawyer. You will also work with other partners in the Insurance Disputes NSL on specific projects or as part of a wider client service team convictions.

This post is also subject to a satisfactory response from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) (to check for any previous criminal convictions) and, given the nature of the work-type, you may also be required to undergo national security vetting to SC level – the latter can be undertaken following commencement of employment.
